Mixed-race wolf dude looking to make a place for himself. A known troublemaker, he's been sent to the area to connect with his father's family so they might deal with him.

Personality

Keir is a confused young man, constantly given mixed moral signals most of his life. He wants to be a good person, because who doesn't, but his violent impulsiveness wrecks that ideal most times. About the only thing going for him is that he was able to find a mentor to help him realize what he was and how to tap his abilities when he was a teen. At least he doesn't have the nightmares and bloody episides of a person who /doesn't/ know he's a werwwolf to deal with. Keir has that deep burning werewolf need to belong, to have a familiy, a pack, but do far he has not had one. His father used him and then abandoned him. His mother saw him as a nuisance and possibly a source of magical ingredients. His 'uncles' want to use his physique and wobbly moral compass to enrich themselves. With all that, Keir has trust issues.

Background

Keir's mother was a witch and his father a werewolf. He was born in a run-down section of Constanta, Romania, but he was kidnapped away by his father when he was seven. After that, his Bratva-connected Ukranian father used him as a mule to smuggle drugs and artifacts out of Eastern Europe. Life would be lavish one day, in the gutter the next. Lots of violence and moving around until he was fifteen or so made the boy distrustful and angry. So when his father was severely injured in a gun battle in New York City, NY CPS scooped up Keir and dumped him into the foster system. Things went downhill from there, as Keir seemed to attract the exact wrong sorts of 'parents', most of whom wanted to sacrifice him to the Elder God of their choice. Finally he aged out of The System and was dumped on the street. Thankfully by now he could change, and so being a homeless vagrant was not nearly as bad as it could have been. Eventually, he was able to make his way north to distant relatives. Unfortunately for him, those relatives were also cartel members who want to rope him into their 'pack' and use his abilities to enrich themselves. The pull and allure of 'family' is almost too strong for him to resist. Can he?

Keir has lived most of his life in 'la vida loco'. He knows the general habits and means of various types of criminal behavior from this, particularly Eastern European drug trade and human traffickers. He can hotwire almost anything in seconds. He can drive a getaway car with astonishing competance for a man his age. He's had to mostly educate himself, save some of the public schooling he got when he was in the foster system. He knows something of the supernatural world from what his father was able to teach him, so he knows the types of things and places to avoid or seek out. He has had no contact with his mother since he was ten, when she tracked them to a hotel and proceeded to set most of it on fire as she sought to kill his father. He has had little or no contact with his father for the last six years. Dad of course lived through his massive wounds and is now looking for his boy once more. Having tasted freedom and also the idea that he might not need to be a criminal all his life. Keir is not sure he wants the man to find him.

Keir has no formal education on the supernatural world, but just from having lived in it for as long as he has, he has picked up a lot of the basics about interacting with other supernatural beings and some organizations. He is no loremaster, but he gets by.

Werewolves of this type can intimidate those without exceptional willpower, especially normal humans and most animals, simply by making their eyes glow and growling or snarling towards them. They naturally gives off a predatory aura, though this is enhanced and punctuated by any show of dominance, typically when they are agitated or nervous.

The resiliency of this type of werewolf allows them to endure non-lethal wounds from personal weaponry such as swords, shotguns, or even rifles without significant loss of ability. Minor wounds heal almost instantly, and even more severe wounds will heal within a few days at most.

In their "wolfed out" forms, werewolves of this type have sharp fangs and claws. These are able to carve through stone and steel, and their bite's pressure is able to shatter bone and tear flesh easily.

Werewolves can alleviate the pain of someone else by transferring it onto themselves. This requires physical contact and significant focus, becoming more difficult depending on the severity of the pain.

Werewolves of this variety are much tougher, stronger, and more agile than an average human, able even to twist and bend solid metal, smash through most structures short of armored or strongly-reinforced materials, and break through solid walls of cement or brick with moderate effort. They can resist substantial amounts of damage, especially blunt force trauma, and emerge either unscathed or with only minor injuries. Especially when "wolfed out," and specifically when running on all fours, they can easily outrun most mundane opponents. They also possesses superior agility, able to catch arrows in midair with moderate effort and, with a little luck, even dodge projectiles like bullets. This enables them to leap much higher and farther than an average human, as well as giving them the ability to bounce off walls and tumble like a skilled gymnast.

The senses of this type of werewolf are enhanced far beyond the ability of any average human. They can hear things like a person's heartbeat and tell if they are nervous and possibly lying and clearly hear the murmur of a quiet conversation several rooms away. They can see over long distances and also possesses excellent night vision. Through scent, they can track a person, even if the trail is days old; they can also isolate specific individual scents in a larger group.

Keir is a native Romanian speaker. He can speak English and Russian with a distinct accent. He knows a smattering of French and German, maybe the equal to a couple of high-school classes in them.

WEAKNESSES

Keir has more than the normal werewolf problem with keeping his violent emotions in check. He has a hair-trigger offense button.

Impetuous

Keir has a very short brain-to-action pathway. He has little patience, no self-control, and often acts purely on instinct. That's not as big a disadvantage for a werewolf since they have pretty good actual instincts, but it's more than enough to get him into trouble with no way out.

Lunar Cycle

Werewolves are closely tied to the phases of the moon. This affects them in various ways, such that they are at their strongest when the moon is full and their weakest during a lunar eclipse. The phase of the moon also strongly affects the werewolf's emotions, such that they can become almost overwhelming near the full moon. Werewolves often find a strong urge to shift during the full moon, as well as on the nights just before and after a full moon. Most werewolves eventually learn to control their shifts and to manage their emotions via various methods.

Lunar Eclipse

During a full lunar eclipse, werewolves of this type are generally powerless and essentially reduced to the status of ordinary, if healthy, humans. If the Bite cured them of any health conditions or injuries, these remain cured. Once the moon becomes visible again, their power is restored. During a partial eclipse they are somewhat weaker than normal, but they do retain their powers at a high-end Basic level.

Mountain Ash

Mountain ash, when activated, creates a barrier against most supernatural creatures. Werewolves cannot generally penetrate such a barrier, nor can they create one.

Parents

Keir's parents are pretty bad people. His mother is a witch with little to no compunction about straight-up murdering humans that get in her way. His father is a career criminal in the Bratva, the Russian Mafia. Thankfully for him, neither have easy means to find him. When dad kidnapped Keir from his mother, he also destroyed all the nails, hair clippings, etc that she could have used to find him. Now all she has to rely on is her connection to him by blood; distance and time have blunted the effectiveness of that method considerably. Dad lost track of him after Keir was placed in the foster system, and he has few reasons to go to the US. Neither parent was very affectionate to Keir but he was useful to them in different ways. Neither of them have a priority to find him but if either did, then things could get very bad for him indeed.

Undocumented

Keir came into the Child Protective Services as an undocumented minor, so his further legal status was not really questioned. When it finally camr to someone's attention, after he'd left the foster system, they realized he was an undocumented immigrant in this country, so he'll avoid any confrontation with authorities he can. There are many jobs he cannot hold, legally, so he's turned to the underworld for employment. From his time in the foster system, he has a police record for assault, vandalism, petty theft, and possession of a firearm.

Wolfsbane

Wolfsbane is a poisonous plant that is especially dangerous to werewolves. When introduced into a werewolf's system, it slows the natural healing process and may force uncontrollable shifting and steadily-increasing weakness that may lead to death. Various methods, both medical and ritualistic, exist to cure this poisoning, but they all require specialized knowledge, power, or ingredients.
