Violating his people's low-tech traditions, a revolutionary without a revolution tried to fight back alone against a cybernetic species of biological and technological scavengers. After failing, he decided to fight fire with fire and had himself implanted with their own technology. Now, many years later, he has put aside his vendetta to live in the spaceways and maybe do some actual good as he goes.
Personality
Gruff: At first glance, Icheb might come across as a grizzled man who has no patience for anything.
Background
Icheb had a fairly normal life on Brunal as the son of a farmer. It was clear though that the boy was brighter than his peers. Perhaps being a bit too intelligent for his own good as he was too curious about the old forbidden technology and the technology of the raiders that left his people living an overtly lowtech lifestyle. As a teenager he had the hubris to start a revolution with literally no support and for his efforts he was placed in stasis, genetically modified, and sent into space to be collected by the raiders and assimilated into their cybernetic hive mind.
The genetic modifications utilized his own body to spread an infection to the rest of the ship and the hive mind disconnected from the ship and set it to self destruct. However, the damage done by those disconnected from the hive mind prevented the ship from actially initiating the destruct. Icheb, now also broken from the hive mind, asserted himself and his species near genetic perfection allowed his body to adapt to the implants on his own. He escaped in a shuttle, left his homeworld and people behind, and followed his interest in his implants to apprentice to a cybersurgeon.
Learning both how to install and maintain implants and how to design them, Icheb became a skilled cybersurgeon and cyberneticist in his own right. Though distrust of formal organizations led him to stick to the fringes, underbellies, mercenary ships, and other out of the way places he can work with minimal oversight, who knows where fate will ultimately lead him?
SKILLS
Despite being rather grizzled and roguish, Icheb never really learned how to fight. Beyond a bit of bar brawling and some minor scuffles with energy weapons, Icheb can barely be called a combatant.
Cybernetics - Expert Level

His research into his enemy, his own cybernetic enhancements, and cybernetics in general, Icheb is a highly skilled cybernetic engineer.
Cybersurgery - Expert Level

Apprenticed once to a cybersurgeon, Icheb has since assisted and performed many, many installations, repairs, removals, and checkups.
Engineering - Competent Level

Icheb defied his people's reliance on genetically modifying crops and keeping a low technological profile to keep the tech scavengers away. In secret he studied remnants of both his own people's old technology and that of the scavengers to learn the old ways of high technology that is relatively common among the stars.
Genetics - Competent Level

The Brunali as a species are excellent genetic engineers and Icheb was trained in genetic modification, particularly of agricultural plants, from a young age.
Medicine - Competent Level

Despite specializing heavily in cybersurgery, Icheb is still knowledgeable in general medicine.
Though he has his focuses, Icheb has a passing interest in science of all disciplines.
Xenoanatomy - Competent Level

Part of his study of cybernetic enhancement involved atudying the systems of alien species. He's researched many species' anatomy, with both theoretical and practical experience.
ABILITIES
Cyber: Cortical Implant - Enhanced Level
|
The cortical implant rests behind his upper right forehead in his brain. It links to the other implants and his nanites, making sure they're working with each other and with his biological processes. His cortical implant has been modified to prevent most cyberattacks and his other implants are in a closed network and extremely hard to hack into outside of the cortical implant.
Nanite: Efficient Musculature - Enhanced Level

The nanites keep Icheb's muscles in good shape, giving his muscles a much stronger force than might seem appropriate from a humanoid of his size. His muscles also operate much more efficiently, making his stamina quite impressive for such an average build.
Nanite: Extract Toxins - Enhanced Level

The nanites in Icheb's system can transport harmful materials to the assembly nodes in his nasal-ocular implant or omnitool implant, or the replicator in his wrist to be broken down. This means he recovers from poisoning and illness far quicker.
Cyber: Gravity Grip - Enhanced Level

Icheb has systems in his hands, feet, and knees used to keep locked into place on the ground or on something he's climbing.
Cyber: Nanite Hive - Enhanced Level
|
These nanorobots normally reside in the bloodstream, produced in nodules in his bone marrow, though they may be directed to other areas for specific tasks. They operate on his own bioelectrical power, so they go dormant if removed from his body.
Cyber: Nasal-Ocular Implant - Enhanced Level

This implant is normally inactive and the functional part removed leaving only a port along his nose and over his eyebrow. His nanites are capable of assembling and disassembling the outer sensor array that wraps around to cover his left eye and ear and gives him access to a wide range of audio, olfactory, and visual information.
Cyber: Omnitool Implant - Enhanced Level

Icheb's right forearm, inner and outer, is riddled with a line of assembly nodes that allow the nanites to create an omnitool around his forearm and possibly his hand. This omnitool contains two power sources and allows him to create whatever simple or power tool is needed for a job. Including a simple melee or complex energy weapon if necessary.
Nanite: Recycle Waste - Basic Level

The nanites in Icheb's system can transport waste particles to the assembly nodes in his nasal-ocular implant or omnitool implant, or the replicator in his wrist to be broken down. This means he can forgo normal excretory processes if he needs to.
Nanite: Regeneration - Enhanced Level
|
Icheb's nanites give him a much higher regenerative ability, healing minor wounds like cuts or sprains in minutes or hours, major cuts and broken bones in hours or days, and possibly life-threatening injuries in days or weeks.
Cyber: Shield Implants - Enhanced Level
|
These are a series of implants in his chest, abdomen, and each of his upper limbs. They project adaptive personal shielding automatically when a threat is detected. This shielding gets stronger against a particular source the more it is exposed to it, but is ineffective against non-energy weapons.
Cyber: Structural Reinforcement - Enhanced Level

Icheb's bones have been reinforced to be stronger and more resistant to fractures while his joints have been reinforced to be far more resilient to shock and overbending. This also means that his unarmed attacks hit harder.
Cyber: Synaptic Implant - Enhanced Level

Woven into his left brain and threading into his right, this implant enhances his brain's processing ability. While it doesn't necessarily increase his mental capacity, it does increase the speed at which he can process information.
Cyber: Wrist Tubules - Enhanced Level
|
These two tubules are implanted in his left wrist and may be extended out above his hand. Their primary purpose is to form a direct interface with technology. They were also designed to inject nanites into technological and/or biological matter, though there is no longer access to programming that allows the nanites to do anything outside his body. He has since modified the tubules to inject substances he can create from the replicator in his left forearm, usually anesthetic, anti-virals, anti-biotics, anti-toxins, and other remedies.
ADVANTAGES
The Brunali have genetically engineered most defects out of their genome. This means most of them, Icheb included, are nearly perfectly healthy and have peak physical and mental potential.
Icheb has always stood out among his peers as exceptionally bright. Even as a rebellious teenager, he proved to have his wits about him and his mind has kept him out of trouble in many, many cases.
It's not easy to gain, but once Icheb's trust is earned, it's solid. Betray that trust though and you'll likely never see it again.
WEAKNESSES
Icheb grew up resisting his people's customs and when not a single person stood by him when he was ready to crusade, Icheb developed a dim view of large political bodies. He tends only to rely on those he knows and trusts and give the finger to any who arbitarily (in his mind) claims authority. This often prevents him from seeing opportunities and resources, or utilizing them when he does notice, leaving him to smaller groups or requiring heavy convincing to throw in with widespread organizations.
Icheb's people tend to be utilitarian and blunt, though not necessarily without deception. Icheb has developed in similar lines though with much more interspecies and interpersonal experience under his belt. He often comes across as rough and insensitive despite being a rather caring and sensitive guy underneath.
Icheb's implants help keep him alive. If they're disabled, especially his cortical implant which keeps the others functioning in harmony with his body, it's possible his biological systems might start to reject the cybertech and put his life in danger.
Icheb has a big heart underneath his less savory outer layers, though accompanying it is a rather large head. While he once thought of himself as the savior of his people, that idea was (mostly) quashed when his people refused to stand with him. He still finds it hard not to help others when they're in need, often when it's derrimental to himself or his plans to do so, largely because he doesn't tend to believe people can take care of themselves as well as he can take care of them.
