If you're looking for help, whether it's with your schoolwork or your ghoulwork, Skitch is your man. He may not be the best monster killer, but as guys in the chair go, he's hard to beat.

Personality

Skitch loves being super-smart. It makes it easy to help people -- and you should. Learning about the supernatural side of the world has only made more grateful for his brain, since it gives him more ways to use it to help people (mostly to stay alive). He's confident in his ability in the areas he excels, but he's not arrogant about it. Fiercely loyal to those he loves, he will defend them even against threats he's incapable of facing. Generally the one of the first to volunteer, he's also one of the first to think things through and come up with a rational plan.

Background

That was the year that he learned that his best friends were part of a family of monster hunters. They had weapons and everything, which was lucky, since the way he learned that information was by being rescued by them. The night hag who'd stolen him from his bed was dispatched by his friends and their parents, and then there was a big, long conversation later about how everything he thought was a story was probably real. After that, things he'd noticed started making a lot more sense. He wanted to help, but he was too young and too small, he was told.

Once upon a time, a family fled a war and came to America. They settled in a small New England town, where the man set up a tailor shop and made a life for his little family. Eventually, after a few generations, that family came to include a boy named Samuel, soon to be nicknamed 'skitch' after a particularly rough bout of chicken pox when he was three and unable to say 'scratch'. There was Samuel, his mom, and his dad, and it was pretty okay. Until the year he turned ten.

His mother decided she could no longer remain in that small New England town, and longed to return to her family's home, across the country. It seemed like a big jump, both literally and figuratively. But Skitch had little option but to follow his mother to her home town, where she took a job as a waitress in a local diner and Skitch began his life as a high school junior in a new and stranger town.

So he studied. And studied. And learned everything he could, taking each myth and legend and absorbing as much of it as he could. And all the while, he grew. When he was fourteen, he encountered his first vampire -- a girl not much 'older' than he was, who wasn't the monster his friends made her out to be. And that made him realize not every 'monster' was a monster, after all. A point of view that was very hard to get across to his friends. So he stopped trying, and found other friends. Better ones.

At the beginning of his sophomore year, he learned that humans are also monsters. His father was murdered during a brutal robbery. Gutted, Skitch withdrew from everything that wasn't schoolwork, restoring his car, or the new French Bulldog puppy his father had just given him. Slowly, over that year, he began to heal. Which is, of course, when Life kicked him in the testes.
