Cloned from Superman's stolen cells combined with those of a human donor, Superboy was originally supposed to be the private Superman for Project Cadmus. That went about as well as could be expected. Once he escaped, he was dubbed Superboy by the media and eventually took the name and became a hero of his own. Although he also maintains a residence in Hawaii, he's been working more and more in the Tri-Cities area to bring truth, justice, and peace to a whole new crowd.
Personality
Outwardly, Superboy is boisterous, engaging, and often outspoken, full of bravado and self-confidence. He has a corny but lovable sense of humor, and he likes to laugh, likes to enjoy himself, and likes to have fun. But much of this outward expressiveness hides the sensitivity within him and can cover deep insecurities, not only about life in general, but specifically his own circumstance of being a clone, and a clone of Superman, at that. He's fiercely loyal to his friends and would go the distance for any he lets close to him. Even if it might look differently, he really does embody the values that his older cousin does, and he always does his best to fight for truth, justice, and peace.
Background
Created from the genetic material of Superman by Project Cadmus as their own personal servant, Superboy defied their expectations and, eventually, broke free from Cadmus and struck out on his own. With the help of Superman, he established himself in Hawaii along with allies Dubbilex, Roxy, local journalist Tana Moon, and select others. After some learning and some growing up, he decided to return to the Tri-Cities and help with the duties of the Super Family, as well as his friends and team.
SKILLS
FIGHTING - Competent: Though he does tend to lean heavily on his powers, Superboy is a more than able fighter and employs solid strategy in a fight.
PERSUASION - Competent: The skill of getting people to do what Superboy wants them to do is pretty strong. He's not an expert or anything; he knows more than an amateur but less than a master manipulator.
POWERS
FLIGHT - Enhanced: Superboy can fly at supersonic speeds approaching 40,000 miles per hour.
HEAT VISION - Enhanced: Superboy has the power to fire beams of pure heat from his eyes which, like other Kryptonians, he has the ability to slightly widen to create a concussive force or focus like a cutting laser.
INVULNERABILITY - Supreme: Superboy is incredibly tough, able to withstand most conventional attacks without injury.
SOLAR ABSORPTION - Basic: The way Superboy's powers function, like any other Kryptonian, is by absorbing solar energy and converting it to power. He is effectively a solar battery and constantly absorbing solar energy. His powers function under a yellow sun, and they are neutralized by a red sun. He can continue to absorb solar energy at night, although the available energy is significantly less and dependent upon moon phase.
SUPER BREATH - Basic: Superboy can expel his breath in large, chilling bursts up to 50 miles per hour. He cannot flash-freeze something, but he can lower its temperature quickly. His systems are so that he can hold his breath for up to half a day with no problem, and he can survive in high-pressure areas such as deep space or the deep ocean.
SUPER SENSES - Enhanced: Superboy has incredible senses in a wide array, though he is susceptible to overstimulation if he forgets to control them. He can perceive the entire electromagnetic spectrum and focus to a microscopic level. It requires him to switch his sight to the desired spectrum. He also has x-ray vision, but he cannot penetrate any substance that would resist x-rays, such as lead. His other senses are similarly enhanced, and he is able to perceive far more than any average human.
SUPER SPEED - Enhanced: Superboy can move incredibly fast, at speeds approaching 5,000 miles per hour. His reflexes are literally lightning-fast.
SUPER STRENGTH - Supreme: Superboy possesses unbelievable strength, enabling him to pick up an average vehicle effortlessly. He only commands half the strength of a full Kryptonian, but even that is still far and away beyond average human capability.
TACTILE TELEKINESIS - Supreme: Superboy's signature power, tactile telekinesis allows him to manipulate things that he is directly or indirectly touching, through contact with surfaces with which he is currently in contact. It generally stays around him, although it can be extended at will to manipulate objects and people, or even to sense people, though they must be in contact with some surface that either directly or indirectly is connected to Superboy.
He can disperse and even deflect force, with focus, and can create a force field or force bubble that can protect from forces such as underwater pressure. He cannot, however, defend against gases with his tactile telekinesis. He may use it to cause vibrations to damage or burst things, apply pressure on objects, and even explode under something, launching it into the air. However, if it is not in contact with a surface, he no longer can use the telekinesis to manipulate it.
ADVANTAGES
KRYPTO Superboy has a faithful friend in Krypto, a Kryptonian dog with the same powers as any Kryptonian. He is only a whistle away and will always respond if he can.
LEGACY Superboy wears the S, the symbol of the house of Superman. These all inspire a powerful legacy of trust, not only on Earth but beyond.
WEAKNESSES
CADMUS Cadmus still view Superboy as an asset they are reluctant to let go of, and they have more than once attempted to manipulate him into their hands again.
CLONE Being a clone isn't always smooth sailing. Superboy struggles with insecurity and occasional moodiness due to his nature and how different he is from his friends. He also never had the real development that they had, even if he was artificially fed information and taken through the experience of a childhood. As a result, with some things, he can be ill-adjusted or ill-equipped to deal with them.
KRYPTONITE Superboy is affected by kryptonite as is any Kryptonian, although his genetic makeup affords him a slight resistance. The effects will ultimately lead to the same ends, however, and he is drastically weakened and put in mortal danger by the substance.
MAGIC Like any other Kryptonian, Superboy is especially susceptible to magic and has almost no defense against it. Psychic attacks against him are also as effective as they would be against any regular human with his level of willpower.
MATCH Another clone meant to replace Superboy, Match and Superboy don't get along at all. Even being in the same room makes them bristle. Kon feels sorry for Match and wishes they could get along better, but it remains to be seen.
