Guardian Angel
Originally a messenger and guardian spirit in the service of The Brilliant Cosmenia in Arcadia, Valerian spent many years doing good in that world. The Divine, however, recognized a growing desire within Valerian to live more actively in the world, and he was sent to live among earthlings.
While still able to travel to Arcadia, circumstances have led to him dwelling mainly in Sangria, where he has adapted to live much as humans do, performing acts of good and offering protection to those in need, while also developing a personal life, such as he never had before.
Background
Arcadia is a world of heroes and great deeds, but it also has its less obvious protectors. The Brilliant Cosmenia, a divine spiritual force of benevolence and positive energies, has many servants and messengers who offer spiritual and, at times, physical aid to those in that world. One such angelic being is Valerian, who for many years served in that role and did what good he could throughout Arcadia. However, the Brilliant Cosmenia gradually became aware of Valerian's growing bond to the lives of people, especially a desire to improve the state of humans in the world. Many of Valerian's good deeds were done, for instance, to aid the downtrodden common folk in places like Lyne, who suffered under a cruel regime. Because of this, Valerian was granted a gift: the ability to walk freely in the world. Soon after beginning to explore Arcadia in a more human-like form, he was drawn to a portal between worlds, finding his way to Sangria. This world especially fascinated him, so now he divides his time between both worlds, living often in Sangria and doing good in both places wherever he can.

Athletics - Expert Level
He is in excellent physical shape and skilled in various athletic pursuits, such as climbing, jumping, running, swimming, and tumbling.
Awareness - Expert Level
He is very alert and attentive to his surroundings.
Charm - Expert Level
While he lacks guile and is not much for subterfuge, he is good at relating to others and can be very charming in a sincere way.
Combat - Expert Level
As an angelic warrior, he has served as a warrior in many spiritual battles, making him an expert at both unarmed and melee combat.
Knowledge - Competent Level
He has a fair working knowledge of various common knowledge, including common academic subjects.
Occult - Competent Level
While he is not a mage, he has extensive experience dealing with the supernatural and a generally strong working knowledge of the occult.
ABILITIES
Divine: Angelic Being - Supreme Level
As an angelic being, Valerian has Enhanced-level strength and ability, as well as Supreme-level resilience and toughness. He is immune to aging and disease, and he is very resistant to toxins or harmful substances. He does not need to eat, drink, breathe, or sleep, though he can do so if he chooses. His body does not produce waste or succumb to the elements. He can manifest wings, and he is imbued with a certain divine radiance, making him both physically attractive but also spiritually inviting.
Divine: Aura - Supreme Level
Valerian's aura is a tangible thing. Not only does it manifest as divine radiance that can push back and illuminate darkness, but it can also burn impure or corrupt beings and even manifest as physical force. He can extend this field to protect those within it, or he can shape it, extending it in planes, tendrils, or otherwise to affect the world around him like a limited version of telekinesis.
Divine: Empathy - Enhanced Level
Valerian is able to sense the emotions, intentions, and desires of others. He is even sensitive to deeper, underlying personal needs, mental traumas, or vulnerabilities. Those with enhanced or greater mental protection may be able to resist this, but he is very sensitive to those things, and as this is a passive rather than invasive ability, as well as one generally benign in nature as it makes him better able to help others, it is not generally an offensive ability that suggests a need to be resisted.
Divine: Miracles - Enhanced Level
Valerian is capable of creating fairly minor to moderate miracles. This may include conjuring small objects, including those capable of performing especially minor miracles. He can bless things, imparting them with a touch of holy essence. He can heal those who are sick or harmed. He can conjure light or transmute substances, such as water into wine or purging toxins from food. These miracles are generally protective or utility-based, rather than being weapons or harmful.
Traveling
Valerian can instantly teleport himself and up to several passengers across great distances. This normally allows him to travel instantly nearly anywhere on Earth, as well as to travel between worlds, such as to Arcadia. Travel between worlds may take longer, depending on various cosmological factors.
Divine: Wings - Basic Level
Valerian is able to manifest a set of wings that allow him to fly at fairly low speeds. They are less a means of travel, as he can use his traveling ability for that, but they do allow him to move vertically, to resist gravity, and generally to look the part of an angelic messenger. These wings are also as durable and strong as the rest of him, so they can be used to physically shield or protect others.
ADVANTAGES
Two Worlds
Valerian is a walker between worlds. As such, he is familiar with both Arcadia and Sangria. While he did not grow up among humans, he has a great deal of background knowledge, allowing him to assimilate smoothly and operate within either world.
WEAKNESSES
Empathic
Being sensitive to the feelings and well-being of other creatures, from humans to supernatural beings to commonplace animals, Valerian does not lightly inflict harm or even unkindness on others. He tends, instead, to do what he can to aid and protect them. He does not see this as a weakness, but it does tend to heavily inform his personality, and it limits what he will do in many cases. For instance, he is a vehement vegetarian and staunchly opposes any form of cruelty to animals or other innocent creatures.
Guardian
Valerian is compelled, as much by his personality as his angelic nature, to render aid to the needy and to protect the weak and vulnerable. Moreover, he tends to always try to give others what he perceives them as needing. He is not wholly selfless, as he does enjoy life and want things for himself, but he does tend to put others' needs first and will readily make sacrifices to aid others.
Innocents
Valerian's offensive powers are limited in that they cannot cause true harm to anyone who does not mean harm. The more malicious a person or creature is, the more fully he can affect them, but the more innocent or benign their intent is, the less his offensive powers can affect them. He can do no harm at all to anyone who, in turn, means others no harm, even if they could do so under different circumstances.
