Brazilian solar-powered mutant superstar, Berto (not to be confused with Birdo) is crashing at Sky High and, especially when it gives him the attention he craves, helping the school out.
Background
Roberto Da Costa was raised in a life of luxury and comfort in São Paulo, Brazil. His early life wasn't extremely exciting, but his mutant powers manifested during a school soccer match. This drew the attention of both Charles Xavier of Sky High and Donald Pierce of the Hellfire Club, both of whom had a stake in recruiting him to their side.
However, things went crazy once both of their forces started to clash. In the end, it was Xavier's people who won out, and Roberto went back with them to learn to control his powers and better himself, and even to develop into a hero. With a name and a costume!
SIGNATURE ABILITY
Overachiever
If all seems just about lost, Roberto may be able to call upon otherwise untapped potential. If he is able to absorb enough energy or has stored a significant amount, Roberto may use this energy to enhance his abilities beyond their usual means. This can result in power stunts that he would otherwise not be able to do, and which may leave him exhausted and in need of recovery for an extended period.
He can boost his strength, for example, to its upper limit for a time, until he has used all the energy his body is able to absorb, or he could even release the energy in directed bursts for a specific purpose. These stunts always take a lot out of Roberto, but he justifies them with his boundless enthusiasm.

Thanks to his ability to use energy, especially solar energy, to augment his body's natural systems, Roberto enjoys a variety of benefits. These include enhanced strength, with ability to lift at least 2 tons, with room to expand up to 50 tons and beyond. His senses are also faster than an average human, with reflexes also significantly quicker. His powers also confer greater agility than even some world-class athletes. Roberto is additionally much more durable, thanks to his powers. While he can still be hurt by projectiles, for example, the injury is less likely to be serious. Larger force is usually easier for him to more thoroughly distribute or resist, such as that of a moving vehicle or a super-powered opponent.

Roberto can absorb solar energy extremely well and efficiently, and he is able to store it for some time. He is limited in his ability to absorb solar energy when it is less available, such as at night or indoors and away from any source of solar energy. However, he can absorb other forms of energy beyond just sunlight, though depending on what they are, they may challenge his abilities to their limits.
Power: Sustenance - Enhanced Level

Even in extremely hostile environments such as space, as long as there is adequate energy to absorb, Roberto can survive for some time. He must continuously maintain his transformed appearance, but it can keep him alive and in good health as long as there is a supply to fuel it.
Power: Thermokinesis - Basic Level

Though it is usually tougher to control as a power, Berto can channel his energy to change the temperature around him, and he is also capable of absorbing body heat or projecting heat at a person to affect their temperature. This is mostly a novelty, and he hasn't trained enough with it to feel comfortable using it for things requiring exactness. It does also confer extensive immunity to heat and fire, and it may further allow Roberto some immunity from cold, as long as he has energy to keep him warm and potentially share with others close to him.
Since Roberto isn't very practiced at this ability, it stands a chance of incinerating any clothing he might be wearing if that clothing isn't made of something resistant to it, like unstable molecules.
ADVANTAGES
From his father's success at business to his mother's position in academia, and including the X-Men and other heroic allies he has, Roberto has a wide range of options he can ask for assistance and be generally sure of help.
Roberto's family is rich, there's no two ways about it. His father is at least a millionaire, and Roberto is set to inherit his business one day. He has regular access to tremendous amounts of money and resources.
WEAKNESSES
Roberto is full of bravado, but that can lead to his confidence landing him in tough situations. He is, at times, very bad about being too cocksure and isn't always self-aware of how far he sometimes lets it go.
Despite his heroism and great desire to do good, Berto does have a hellacious temper. Sometimes he's a hair trigger, but most times it's something understandable, though his response may be disproportionate. His temper can get him and others into trouble, and it can readily hurt feelings, even if the stakes aren't high.
