A lot of people don't realize that there ARE male Sirens, since art so frequently only depicts them as being female. Though even still, a Siren's child with a human isn't necessarily always going to be a Siren themself. Alexander either won or lost this crapshoot, depending on how you look at it. As it turns out, Alex takes after the Ancient Greeks' version of the Siren, being more avian than fish. Bird or fish, however, he still retains the most famous hallmark of a Siren, the fascinating song.

Background

Alexander was born to a female Siren who had fascinated a human male and decided that she liked him enough to sleep with him. Quite simple, yes. However, fearing that her half-human child would suffer prejudice amongst the Sirens, his mother decided to leave him at the doorstep of a house that looked well-to-do. Fortunately it was a couple that had no children and were trying to have a child of their own. They decided to try to adopt the little boy, possibly fascinated by the sound of his crying.

He grew up as normally as a young man with a reasonably well-to-do family could. He was sheltered, but not spoiled, and allowed music and art instruction far earlier than a young boy would do in the school system normally. Alexander discovered both a love for music and a talent for singing in particular. But there was a pattern that followed him throughout his life -- anything voice- or speech-related, he always seemed to grasp it sooner. Even before he could speak, he was humming along with near perfect pitch to TV programs, he learned to speak sooner than his peers, and almost instantly grasped the concepts behind music.

Everything seemed normal... right up until puberty hit. The night of a full moon, he felt a need to go outside. He did, out on the balcony of the family's house, and stared at the moon until precisely the moment the moon was at its apex. At that moment... he changed. Wings erupted from his back, and his feet became raptor talons. But... his parents didn't see any of it. He insisted that he'd changed... and his parents merely nodded and smiled, figuring it to be some kind of prank or joke. Though they were disappointed at the destruction of his shirt, and scolded him about it.

The sheer shock of the situation made Alexander withdraw from his parents, and he holed up in his room for some time, refusing to come out. Even refusing to go to school, because he was afraid the other students would be able to see the changes. Eventually his parents MADE him go out and wait for the bus... but he would disappear when the bus came to pick him up, and he would hide around the city until it was time to go home.

But one day when he "came home from school", his parents told him that they knew about his playing hooky -- the teacher, of course, called them. They were disappointed in him, more so that he was clearly having a problem but chose to deal with it by running away rather than telling them about it. They had a discussion, and of course, Alexander stuck to his guns, insisting again that he had wings and bird feet, and was afraid his classmates would ridicule him for them. And again, his parents refused to believe him. They just couldn't see them.

But then his father told him something surprising -- they had found this wonderful boarding school that they thought might do him good to go to. With him LIVING at the school, he couldn't pretend to go to class, since they would keep track of him. On the brighter side, Alexander's father figured, a change of scenery might do wonders to help him over this "eighth-grader syndrome" he seemed to have come down with. And so, with little more preamble, Alexander was packed off to Queensmouth Academy, with his parents... apparently none the wiser as to what kind of school they were sending him to...

SKILLS

Academics - Novice Level

Alexander has the typical (mundane) education that a young man about his age should have. He is an average student in most mundane subjects, neither achieving a straight A's nor always failing.

Occult - Novice Level

Currently, about all Alexander knows is "magic is a thing, and I can presumably perform it".

Singing - Competent Level

No surprise here, that a Siren-blooded human would be talented at singing. Even without his Siren abilities, Alexander is a professional-level singer.

Tracking - Novice Level

Sirens are a hunter-species, so it comes as no surprise that Alexander can "sniff out" certain people or things. He's not trained this ability at all, though, so it's of little practical use aside from being able to find someone's stash of sweets (or marijuana), or being able to tell what's being cooked for a particular meal.

Vocal Range - Competent Level

Alexander is able to raise or lower his voice to far higher and lower octaves than would be possible for an ordinary human. He could potentially use this to disguise his voice when speaking through voice-only communication avenues.

ABILITIES

Power: Glamour - Basic Level

It's a reflexive thing for Fae-blooded to try to hide the Fae traits behind a magical "veil" of sorts. Alexander does this as well, though his is relatively weak, only shielding him from the eyes of most unaware humans.

Magic: Magic - Basic Level

Alexander's Siren blood also gives him access to the ability to do magic. However, this is only the capability, and affords him no greater or lesser power or skill than any other witch, wizard, sorcerer, or any other sort of magic-user. He shows an affinity for illusions and divination via crystal-gazing.

Power: Magic Sense - Basic Level

On occasion, Alexander can perceive the existence of supernatural traits in a person (OOCly subject to consent). He perceives this as a scent, much like the smell of ozone, that tends to be stronger around people with greater power. That said, it's possible that a person may have so little supernatural power that Alexander doesn't perceive it, or so much that it confuses this sense, so it's generally not a reliable method of "sniffing out" the supernatural.

Power: Siren's Voice - Enhanced Level

When properly applied, Alexander's voice can induce varying degrees of euphoria and fascination in a listener. Those who can't hear him -- either due to deafness or the sound actually being blocked -- are unaffected. Strength of will also factors heavily into whether this works or not, and a listener who can keep from "letting the music carry them away" is also unaffected. (OOCly subject to player consent)

Power: Vocal Mimicry - Enhanced Level

Alexander is able to mimic sounds he hears. This does include voices, yes. He has to have heard the sound or voice more than once before, and if the sound/voice was recorded, the quality of the recording definitely affects his ability to imitate it.

ADVANTAGES

Audible Accuracy

If Alexander has heard a person's voice once, he will not forget it. He's less accurate with sounds that don't require the voice though -- he can memorize and duplicate a scream or animal sound easily, but an explosion or the sound of something dropping could give him some trouble.

WEAKNESSES

Lunar Cycle

Those who hear his song, if they aren't affected the first time, will not be affected by subsequent attempts until after the next full moon (roughly one month). However, earplugs or hearing-blocking measures DO NOT count for this. People have to hear the song, unblocked, and resist its effects for this to occur. But once they do, they are immune to the effects of Alexander's song, for better or worse, until after the next full moon.

Perfect Pitch

The other side to having perfect pitch is, unfortunately, the inability to handle off-key sounds. Certain off-key sounds and/or singing can distract him; if loud enough they can actually prove incapacitating, reducing him to doing little but covering his ears.

Siren Physiology

Alexander has wings and raptor feet, so shirts, coats, and footwear are all a pain. Shirts and coats must allow for his wings to stick out somewhere, and his shoes must be near-comically oversized to accommodate his talons. Fortunately he keeps his talons wrapped and filed down, so he isn't prone to destroying human footwear.

Weak Glamour

While his Glamour does generally keep normal human beings from seeing his non-human features, it's not perfect. A mortal with even the slightest bit of supernatural enlightenment will be able to easily see past it. And it doesn't hold up to touch, either, so he needs to be careful to keep his wings close to him so others don't touch them.
