To the public at large, Kyle Rayner is an artist who has made quite a name for himself over the last few years. To a select few, he is also known a member of the Green Lantern Corps, assigned to Sector 2814 and the planet Earth. As a member of this interstellar law enforcement and defense organization, it's his job to uphold the good and protect others. Also serving as a reserve member of the Justice League of America and an instructor at Sky High, Kyle keeps very busy these days.
Personality
Kyle Rayner is an upbeat, optimistic person who looks at the world first and foremost through the lens of trying to see its beauty. He sees things in ways that other people might not necessarily approach the world. He's in some ways a bit of an introvert, often going into his own thoughts as many artists do, but he also has a more extroverted side, showing a jocular and playful side, especially when acting in his role as a Green Lantern. Having been through a number of serious challenges in recent years, he has become a dedicated, determined, and hopeful hero of Earth.
Background
Kyle Rayner was raised in a healthy and loving home in North Hollywood, California, and grew up to be a talented artist. During a major crisis for the Green Lantern Corps, the Guardian of the Universe known as Ganthet entrusted him with an Oan power ring, and for a time, he was the only Green Lantern operating on Earth. Now, no longer alone in Sector 2814, he continues to serve in that role, as well as aiding his fellow heroes as a reserve member of the Justice League of America and an instructor at Sky High, the specialized school for exceptionally gifted students.

ALIEN LORE - Novice: Kyle has a better-than-the-layperson knowledge of the various alien planets and races he's encountered as a GL.
GREEN LANTERN LORE - Novice: Kyle has knowledge of the Green Lantern Corps beyond that of a non-Lantern, but he's not an expert historian on them.
VISUAL ARTS - Expert: Kyle is a gifted and experienced artist and illustrator who works in various drawn and digital media, including painting, photography, and digital modeling.
POWERS
ENERGY PROJECTION - Supreme: Kyle can use his power ring to create whatever his imagination demands, from a basic forcefield or energy blast to a giant mech, all focused by his considerable willpower. These constructs often have particular abilities of their own, allowing them to transfer and manipulate various energies and matter in a variety of ways. These abilities might include, for example, healing himself or others, absorbing or dissipating dangerous energies, or creating complex holographic illusions.
FLIGHT - Supreme: Kyle can use his power ring to fly at great speed within an atmosphere, sufficient to achieve escape velocity and reach outer space. This also allows him to travel at hyperspace speeds or via synthetic wormholes, crossing galactic distances in a matter of hours or, at dire needs, mere minutes.
POWER RING - Supreme: As a Green Lantern, Kyle possesses an Oan Power Ring, sometimes called "the most powerful weapon in the galaxy," that is bound to him and responds to his thoughts and commands. Apart from the ring's primary abilities, it has the following secondary powers:
- AI: The ring contains a powerful onboard computer with advanced artificial intelligence, which can mentally communicate with and receive instructions from the bearer.
- Anti-Theft: The ring will use its powers to resist being taken or used against Kyle's will.
- Communicator: The ring can interact with most other communication devices, including contacting Oa from nearly anywhere in the galaxy.
- Ring Duplication: The ring can create duplicates of itself that channel a portion of its power. These can be loaned to whomever Kyle chooses.
- Costume: The ring can transform Kyle's clothing into his costume or most other outfits that he chooses.
- Phasing: The ring can shift Kyle out of phase with the normal material plane, allowing him to pass through many solid objects.
- Scanning: The ring has a comprehensive sensor suite, allowing it to provide extensive information to its wearer.
- Storage Space: The ring contains a small extra-dimensional space that can be used for storage, shelter, or to temporarily imprison criminals.
- Survival: Kyle's ring will keep him alive and healthy in virtually any situation, including in outer space or underwater.
ADVANTAGES
POWER BATTERY The power battery takes the form of an actual lantern, green in color, which is linked to the central power battery on Oa. This allows Kyle to recharge his ring using the energies from Oa.
RESOURCES Kyle can draw upon a variety of resources, including a number of personal contacts (both in and out of costume) in various useful areas, as well as all the usual trappings of a successful life: a comfortable income, an upscale apartment, nice car, etc.
WILLPOWER Kyle possesses supremely strong willpower, far beyond that of an ordinary human being, which makes him an exceptionally powerful Green Lantern. This, coupled with his power ring's abilities, makes it very difficult to intimidate him or affect him via mental influence.
WEAKNESSES
CHARGING The ring must be recharged by a sufficiently high-yield power source once every 24 hours. Usually, Kyle uses his power battery, which resembles an actual green lantern, to accomplish this.
WILL BREAK If Kyle's willpower or ability to concentrate is broken, he will have trouble maintaining his ring constructs or using the ring for whatever purpose.
