"If you kill a killer, the number of killers in the world remains the same."

- Batman "Okay, but if you kill a hundred killers, then it goes down by ninety-nine." - Red Hood

The Rebel Robin, the one who died. Has daddy issues with Batman. Takes them out upon a world he thinks betrayed him. Tries to play nice, but often isn't. Walks close to the line, but rarely crosses it. This is the Red Hood.

Personality

Jason is a troubled youth who died, came back via Lazarus Pit, and then took his rage out on the world. But he's trying to be better, after having, or forcing, an encounter with Batman and the Joker. He just doesn't see eye to eye with many of the superhero ideals, believing putting monsters down the best course of action. Otherwise, the young man domineering, liking to be in control in all things in his life. Which is somewhat ironic since he's very brash and prone to letting his emotions conrtol him. When he lets himself relax, though, he's rather personable and clearly likes to have fun and willing to try anything at least once.

Background

Rebellion of a Runt

Jason Peter Todd was born to drug addict Catherine and criminal thug Willis Todd. Early in his life, Jason's father was incarcerated for working as muscle for Two Face and his mother overdosed on drugs. Jason took to the streets and survived in the darkness. That is until one day while on a tire theft speee, he came across the Batmobile. He decided to steal its tires, because why not? He actually had the anti-theft systems disabled and the tires off the car when Batman came back to it. Impressed, Batman stuck Jason in a home for troubled youths. But it turned out this was a cover for Ma Gunn's School For Crime. Jason helped Batman take the school and Ma Gunn down and impressed him further causing Batman to take in the boy to train as the new Robin. ==Repose of a Robin==

Jason woukd prove to be a troubled kid and prone to inappropriate behavior, smoking, swearing, and rebelling against Batman's authority specifically and authority in general. He often defied Batman's orders, sometimes successful in his endeavor and sometimes failing. When he was in his teens, he found out that his mother wasn't really his mother and defied Batman by going to search for his real mother. Turns out it was a ploy by the Joker to bring out Batman. Joker beat the boy brutally and left him and the woman used to portray Jason's 'real' mother trapped in a warehouse with a time bomb. Failing to find a way out of the warehouse, the bomb goes off before Batman can rescue them. Batman had to bury Robin, a wound Batman would carry for a long time. ==Rage of the Resurrected==

Except before he was buried, Talia al-Ghul put him in a Lazarus Pit. Jason woke up in his coffin, confused and suffering from the pit's aftereffects, broke out and wandered a bit before someone took him to a hospital. Talia and Ra's restore his health and memory, but he turns out not to be as obedient a trainee as he had hoped. Jason escapes the League of Assassins and disappears into the world. He would emerge a couple years later with training in various arts and skills to take down Batman for not avenging his death. He also left behind several bodies as he developed a penchant for killing his mentors after finding them guilty for various crimes after he was done with their instruction. ==Rise of the Red Hood==

Jason had managed to kidnap the Joker, but let him go because he wanted to use the Joker to get Batman to avenge him and wanted Batman to punish the Joker. The following actions cemented Jason's place as the Red Hood, and a force to be reckoned with. Talia gifted Jason with his first red mask and a replica of Ra's al-Ghul's kris. Jason would then execute a multi-tiered, multi-branch plan. After manipulating the heads of the prominant crime families, becoming the ultimate crime lord of Gotham, starting wars between the gangs remaining outside his control, and orchestrating an inmate riot in Arkham so the Joker could escape, Jason lured the Joke and Batman to the very spot he had met Batman. When Batman refused to kill the Joker still, he gave Batman an ultimatum. Kill the Joker or he would do it himself. Unless Batman stopped him. Keeping Batman at gunpoint, and keeping behind the Joker to force any shots on himself to be a headshot. Batman, though, refused to kill either and incapacitated Jason with a shocking batarang. The Joker used the opportunity to set off explosives he had planted and got away. When Batman went to check on Jason, he was gone, too. ==Reflection, Rehabilitation, and Reconciliation...?==

Batman's words that night and his refusal to kill either Joker and Jason, caused the Red Hood to reconsider his life. While still holding a grudge against Batman, Jason struck out as a vigilante, still willing to go farther than his mentor, he reigned in his indescrimiate murderous ways and after a while made connections with other supers on the anti-heroic side of the coin. He even managed to learn to cope with his past, and even some of the more heroic heroes have reached out. Jason has become less of a anti-social brooder, too, forming his own superhero mercenary group called the Outlaws, though he ultimately left them to their own motives and went solo again. ==Rooting out the Reason==

There was a string of seemingly unrelated murders in Gotham. But Jason's analytical mind and insight into the world of superheroes quickly found the pattern. Every victim was a family member, coworker, neighbor, or some other associate in a hero's civillian life. Jason, who as Robin was murdered for being an associate of Batman, took the murders perhaps a bit too personally. While others were investigating and just putting two and two together, Jason had already, striking out on his own, begun searching for the murderer. But evidence was scarce, nearly nonexistent. ==Riddle of Returning==

Happenstance placed him at the site of a soon-to-be murder attempt. The murderer clearly wasn't expecting the Red Hood to be there and fled, having injured, but not killed the victim. Jason took off after the figure, going on a chase around Gotham until finally he came across the figure escaping through a portal. Jason, succumbing to his brash nature, followed through the portal. But there he found no foe to follow. He found only another Earth. Still filled with a burning desire to bring the murderer to justice, Jason set out into this new world to figure out how to catch his prey and how to go home.

ADVANTAGES

Hair Pigment Drug

Jason developed a chemical that, when taken regularly as an oral drug, alters the pigment that a person's hair gets stuck with. He can alter the amounts of red, brown, and black pigment to cover the spectrum of normal human hair colors. He could add in other pigments if he's made aware of them. However, he doesn't care how much a refined and tested version of this drug would be of value to the market, he keeps the pigment drug a closely guarded secret. Its primary disadvantage, apart from perhaps being perceived as a vain affectation, is that as it acts as a natural hair color, one must wait for their hair to grow to see results. An advantage is that it affects a person's hair everywhere, though not necessarily evenly, much like natural hair.

Intellect

Jason has a genius-level intellect and is very observant.

Modified Handguns

Jason carries two heavily modified IWI Jericho 941s. Each one holds both a detachable battery and a detachable magazine. Using the battery he can fire red stun blasts. Using the magazine he can fire a number of different ammunition from miniature gas cannisters to flechette cartridges to darts to even normal bullets.

Red Hood Suit

Jason's current Red Hood suit consists of an armored shirt with a red bat symbol on the chest. There are a number of devices built into the interlocked pieces, including: compact power source, artificial gills, signal jammers, antenna array, emergency torso shielding. The Red Hood helmet attaches to the armored shirt and also has a number of devices built in, included but not limited to: air intake from gills, contaminant filtration system, HUD, nightvision lenses, infrared lenses, flash suppressant lenses, computer, select sound filter. His gloves are shock gauntlets, tactile sensors, and guides for his computer's tactical programming. He has an armored jock that attaches to the bottom of his shirt. This serves only as protection under his pants and has no active tech built into it.

WEAKNESSES

Batman

Jason no longer wishes to kill Batman or punish him for perceived failures, and is trying to reconcile with the man, but that relationship has so many deep wounds and unhealed scars. And two can't see eye to eye on some things, so they remain mostly estranged.

Brash

Jason can be patient and bide his time when he has a set goal in mind. However, when there is no goal, or if he's sufficiently goaded, Jason can be very brash, running into situations with a false confidence. This can leave him over his head and needing to sacrifice his pride for humility and flee in the face of overwhelming odds.

Lazarus Pit Rage

Jason has largely recovered from his resurrection via Lazarus Pit. However, his rage has been amplified and he let his anger lead him into some dark places. He's ostensibly harnessed his rage and focuses it into more productive matters, but there are times when he still succumbs to his anger's power.

Overconfident

Jason has a really hard time admitting when he's at fault, often blaming others in very thinly constructed reasoning. This also often blinds him to faults in his plans, which can lead him into situations with a false sense of security and confidence. Sometimes he can bend the situation to the positive, but just as often he finds himself overwhelmed and without valid backup plans.

Redhead

Jason hates his red hair. When Batman asked him to dye it, he didn't care why and readily complied. His hair color bothers him so much that he developed a chemical he orally consumes regularly just to alter his hair pigment.

The Joker

Jason has a deep-seated utter hatred for the Joker. He was once able to control himself and not kill the Joker in order to further his own plans. But ever since he decided to forgive Batman, it's like all that anger and hatred and hurt he felt with Batman was transferred into pure rage toward the Joker. Nowadays, he's had a very hard time restraining himself when it comes to the Joker.
