Wry, bold and audacious, confident to the point of cockiness, but always giving and respecting professional courtesy. A good friend to have, if you can stand the fact that he's a bit of an arrogant ass at times.
Background
Jedrek Hagan is a human variant from an early Old Earth colony on a planet named Achilles IV. The Achillean people are, and always have been, a mono-sexual culture. From the first days of the colony, only men have lived on Achilles IV. Through a complex process of genetic blending, the original four thousand colonists produced a society that in time grew to a number in excess of ten million these days, largely centered around the capital city of New Thebes. Every boy born on Achilles is the blend of two or more fathers' DNA and RNA, gestated in artificial wombs and engineered in utero to be strong, healthy and carry the memories of their genetic contributors, back to the founding of the colony. This gives them an extremely strong sense of community and culture and a pride in their way of life that others find to be arrogant. (And it is, to be honest.)
Most Achillean men stay close to home, following their passions on a planet that is post-scarcity and that values arts and sciences equally. Jed, on the other hand, was born with one eye on the stars, according to his fathers. Despite their wishes (and with some hard feelings that the family is dealing with unto to this day), Jed applied for and was accepted by the Space Academy (not that he had any doubts, obviously) and he has been working his way up the ranks of the Fleet ever since, hoping to become the first of his people to command a vessel someday.

GENETIC MEMORY - Enhanced: Achillean humans possess the memories of their forefathers back to the founding of the colony. This allows them a once per scene virtual 'Competent' roll on most skills, where appropriate. (Cooking or mechanics or languages would be appropriate. Working with an entirely new kind of science or a psionic artifact, for example, would not.)
REGENERATION - Basic: Like all people from his home world, Jed is genetically altered in several minor ways that add up to near perfect health and peak fitness (still within human levels), as well as possessing minor enhanced healing abilities that will allow him to recover from nearly fatal wounds several times faster than a baseline human and lesser damage even more quickly. He cannot replace limbs/organs that have been destroyed, but he doesn't scar, for example. This also makes his people long-lived.
ADVANTAGES
COMMAND RANK Rank is important in the fleet, and has both privileges and responsibilities. Because of the nature of space commands, Jed's rank is fluid, depending on whether he's acting as first officer or not, but he's at least a Lt. Commander, if not Commander, for the purposes of command.
SPACE ACADEMY TRAINING GEAS turns out the best of the best. A person with Jed's training is expected to be cool, level-headed and efficient and he has been trained in the professional and personal skills to facilitate that.
WEAKNESSES
ARROGANCE Achilleans are raised to think of themselves as the pinnacle of mankind. Even though Jed tones that down as much as he can, he is still surprised when he isn't the smartest/most fit/best man in the room.
GEAS CODE OF HONOR As an officer, Jed is expected to uphold the laws and standards of his organization, as well as conducting himself with the diplomacy, respect and reserve that his superiors expect and his subordinates require. That means he rarely gets to tell somebody to piss off, even if he wants to do so. It also means he's constrained to 'legal' actions and a chain of command.
GENETIC VULNERABILITY The healing abilities of his people are amazing. But the genetic engineering is also especially vulnerable to damage that caused flawed replication of cells. Given that every Achillean is also genetically engineered and semi-cloned, things that disrupt the human genome hit his people harder than most, leading to minor cancers and such that require at least some and often extensive therapy to fix, even with modern medicine.
