Personality

Flash Thompson, jock bro by day, science student by night, and superhero when necessary. A complicated individual who likes to have fun, appreciates the necessity to be be serious at times, and understands why the fight is important yet why restraint must often be utilized. Most of the time he's content to be the happy-go-lucky good-natured jocky college student, even when with the science nerds. When there's a threat, though, he'll be there to protect his friends and acqaintences and strangers and even his enemies if he has to. Anti-Venom is rather reserved and content to lie unheard, letting Flash be their voice most of the time.

Background

Flash Thompson, aka Agent Anti-Venom

Eugene Thompson, nicknamed Flash due to his speed on the football field, was born to police officer Harrison Thompson and his wife Rose. Flash became something of a bully at school due to issues at home, though calmed down quite a bit later on when his home life stabilized. When high school was over, his idolization of Spider-Man inspired him to do his part for the country. On his way to the Army recruiter, he was drawn to a SHIELD Academy recruitment spiel and went there instead. His determination, physical prowess, and aptitude for anatomy and biochemistry got him a spot at the academy.

Flash excelled at his training, and he was expected to make a good field agent. But his very first mission after graduating the academy was almost Murphy's Law in practice. He was sent with a team to retrieve a stolen sample from SHIELD's labs. When the team arrived, the rogue scientist who stole the sample was in the middle of an experiment. He was meaning to use his Anti-Venom serum on the stolen sample, a piece of the symbiote Venom that SHIELD had obtained and kept secure, or tried to keep secure. The symbiote fragment lashed out, though, and the arrival of the SHIELD team caused the scientist to lose containment of the symbiote fragment. The piece of Venom targeted newbie Agent Thompson and bonded with the young man. This bonding with a mad fragment took its toll on Flash and his body aged a few years before he brought the insane fragment under his control.

The scientist, seeing the bonded pair tried to remedy the situation by throwing a canister of his Anti-Venom serum on Flash. But instead of killing the symbiote fragment, it mutated it. With the symbiote turning white and gaining more monstrous features, Flash fought to regain control but he and the symbiote fell unconscious. When he woke up, he found he was fine and the symbiote had grown from a fragment of Venom into a whole symbiote of its own mind. Naming itself Anti-Venom, the symbiote and Flash found they were bonded at an extreme level to each other. Flash and SHIELD agreed that Flash needed maybe a bit of time away and Flash retained status as a reserve member of SHIELD while he went to college as a human anatomy and biochemistry student. Taking on the moniker Agent Anti-Venom, Flash sometimes is called into SHIELD missions and sometimes goes out on his own superheroic hijinks.

SKILLS

Athlete - Expert Level

For a time, Flash was pretty much stereotyped as a dumb jock. This was partly because of his extremely impressive prowess at sports, especially football.

Combat - Expert Level

As a SHIELD agent in traning, Flash had access to superb training and wisdom in combat techniques, ranged and melee, strategy and tactics, solo and team.

Science - Competent Level

Surprising anyone who knew him from his youth, Flash was actually a good student. His aptitude in science has proven to be above average, with a particular focus on human anatomy and biochemistry.

Human Anatomy: Competent

Biochemistry: Competent

Biology: Novice

Chemistry: Novice

General Science: Basic

Spider-Man Lore - Expert Level

Flash is Spider-Man's self-professed #1 fan and president of local Spider-Man Fan Club. Pretty much any publically available information about Spider-Man is known to Flash. He can tell the difference between verified facts and unverified rumors mostly from his brain alone, but he also knows where on the internet to figure out on the off chance he ain't sure. Flash has an obsession and he's not the least bit ashamed about it.

Willpower - Competent Level

Flash was able to overpower the mind of an insane Klyntar fragment. He has shown similar feats of iron will at SHIELD Academy, on SHIELD missions, and during superheroic hijinks.

ABILITIES

Power: Bonded Physique - Enhanced Level

Flash's body was near peak human before bonding.

Now his strength and durability allow him to bend or break most metal objects, smash almost anything but the most advanced alloys, carry massive amounts of matter with little effort, and take massive amounts of abuse before succumbing.

His agility and reflexes are also enhanced, his reaction time many times human peak, his flexibility on par with skilled contortionists, he has the ability to dodge a barrage of bullets and at relatively close range, and his movements are graceful and quick.

Power: Bonded Psyche - Supreme Level

Flash and Anti-Venom are not just bonded biochemically, but also psionically. Which is largely how they communicate with each other, though there is also a biochemical component. A side effect of this bond is that there's no room in their relationship for outsider forces. While their surface level thoughts may be picked up by telepaths, it requires much more effort to dig into the bonded mind. As long as the two are bonded, psionic intrusion and other psionic attacks are effectively blocked. With Flash's own iron will and Anti-Venom's unique mind, it would typically take a strong telepath quite some time and effort to break through, or a highly coordinated group to help wear resistance down through multiple perspectives. Anti-Venom is capable of telepathically connecting to other Klyntar or to the hive link itself. There is no range for this link.

Power: Cleansing - Enhanced Level

Flash can sense in others any foreign substances and energies, including symbiotes, radiation, drugs, poisons, viruses, and other diseases. He can then create an 'anti-toxin' that can forcibly remove such substances from the person's body, including any physical addictions resulting from it. This ability makes Anti-Venom corrosive to other Klyntar symbiotes. Anti-Venom is also immune to invasive symbiotes' assimilation process due to this ability also being deadly to those symbiotes.

Power: Cosmos Communion - Enhanced Level

Anti-Venom is able to sense the "voice of the Cosmos", words ringing in his head, and locate nearby entities in need of help by following its direction. There is no range to this, though rarely does he pick up these "messages" unless he's able to afford assistance.

Power: Heat Immunity - Enhanced Level

Anti-Venom is immune to heat and fire, including radioactive blasts.

Power: Klyntar - Enhanced Level

By nature of being bonded with Anti-Venom, Flash gains a number of advantages.

Life Support: The symbiote can manufacture air for Flash to breathe, though filtering or converting existing air is much easier, or converting another environmental substance (such as water) into air.

Assimilation: The symbiote assimilates powers (and sometimes strong memories) of its hosts.

Surround Sense: The symbiote can sense danger around it, making it very difficult for most to surprise Flash.

Pseudopods: The symbiote can extend its own body as tentacles, tendrils, or other appendages to attack foes or manipulate objects.

Web Slinging: The symbiote can project its matter outward in a manner very similar to web shooters.

Camouflage: The symbiote can mimic its surroundings, take on the form of clothing, and even mimic other people.

Offspring Detection: Anti-Venom can detect its offspring.

Tool Formation: The symbiote can harden its pseudopods into simple tools and weapons such as a hammer, screwdriver, blade, or club.

No-Light Vision: The symbiote has senses that effectively give Flash the ability to see in total darkness.

Power: Regeneration - Enhanced Level

Flash's strong bond with the symbiote allows the both of them to regenerate at a much faster and efficient rate than normal. Flash heals from most superficial and moderate wounds immediately, while more devastating physical trauma would require a rest cycle to fully heal. So a large gash would heal up right away while a punctured heart or severed limb would take a night's sleep to heal.

Power: Regenerative Touch - Enhanced Level

With a touch, and while holding contact, Flash can regenerate others at the same level he can regenerate himself. Note that while his own regeneration is effortless, this extension is subject to overuse.

Power: Symbiote Space - Enhanced Level

The symbiote is capable of storing stuff in itself in sort of a pocket dimension. How much it can store has never really been tested, but has previously been able to store his football gear, a mountain bike, his rifle, and a piano (don't ask) simultaneously with little strain.

Power: Vibration Immunity - Enhanced Level

Anti-Venom is immune to the vibrations of loud sounds and sonic attacks.

Power: Wall-Crawling - Enhanced Level

The symbiote allows Flash to cling to almost any surface. This allows him to climb vertical surfaces, walk on the ceiling, and stick to fast-moving objects. Forcibly pulling him off anything he's stuck himself to is nearly impossible.

ADVANTAGES

Obfuscating Stupidity

On the outside, Flash appears every bit the dumb jock to most. He knows how he comes across to others and often plays along, usually just to go with the flow. Sometimes though he has the opportunity to use the perception against opponents, exploiting their underestimation of his intellect.

Rifle

Flash has a SHIELD-developed blaster rifle that utilizes a battery pack and fires stun blasts that painlessly overrides a person's nervous system and renders them unconscious. Size of the person and general health determines how long they're out. An average male human would remain out for 20-30 minutes. Multiple blasts may be required to knock out larger creatures or more durable people, if they're able to work at all against them.

Shield

Officially, Agent Anti-Venom is a reserve member of SHIELD. Mostly because they want to keep an eye on him in case he goes off the rails. As a reserve member, he really only has access to SHIELD resources when he's called to action. He does, though, have enough sway to point out when something needs to have reserve members called into action and be taken seriously.

Super-Symbiosis

Flash and the symbiote are so in sync with each other, that external observation has led to debates on whether the symbiote is even sentient. Unlike when Flash was bonded to Venom, whom he had to mentally suppress at all times, Anti-Venom puts up no resistance as long as Flash remains true to the mission of peace-keeping and healing. It seems perfectly happy to let Flash be the bonded pair's representative to the world.

WEAKNESSES

Aged

The process of a symbiote fragment bonding and being brought under Flash's control drained him of several years of his life and he looks several years older than he actually is.

Ego

Flash's dumb jock persona might be a but of an act, but his ego is not. There's a bit of arrogance and pride in Flash that may cause him to make questionable or risky choices. Especially when it comes to his physical prowess.

Overuse

Flash can tax the symbiote to weakness by extensively overusing the production of webbing. This should only be the case if he is focused on using the webbing to overwhelm very large masses to stop a massive creature or stop a massive chunk of debris or vehicle from falling.

He also risks the symbiote's health by overusing the cleansing ability. A handful of people should be fine if he rests afterward.

If the symbiote is overtaxed, it is unable to lend its strengths and abilities to Flash until they sleep a full eight hours.

Super-Symbiosis

Flash and the Anti-Venom symbiote have bonded so completely that neither of them is now able to survive for long without the bond. Flash's physiology would sicken, weaken, and degrade after 36-48 hours. The symbiote would dissolve into lifeless goo after 48-72 hours. Only extensive life support systems would halt this degradation in either of them.

Symbiote Suppressor

SHIELD has power suppressor technology keyed for Anti-Venom in case it goes rogue and becomes a threat. When he went to college, Flash had a device with this tech made to suppress his powers so he could play football on his own skill and ability without needing to separate from the symbiote and risk his life. Unfortunately, his vanity on this issues means there's a risk of this device falling into the wrong hands.
