Quinn Chase is a young man of unknown age. He does not, officially, exist, having hired the services of an excellent hacker to delete or replace his files with false information saying he died at birth. He has an apartment under a false identity, and is, by all appearances, decently well off. The Cat is an up and coming catburglar, along the same vein as the infamous Catwoman. Whether he's her sidekick, appentice or a rival moving in on her territory and schtick remains to be seen.

Personality

Quinn is quiet, a little shy-seeming and unassuming. Life hasn't always been easy, and it's been an uphill climb to reach a point where he has a sense of self worth. The Cat, however, is seductive, playful and empowered, willing and able to take what he wants, when and how he wants it, and not afraid to bruise a few knuckles in the process. He always uses non-fatal methods to achieve his goals, and won't kill except in the the most dire of circumstances, such as to save an innocent's life when all other options have been exhausted.

Background

Abandoned on a Gotham church's doorstep in infancy, with no note and no name, the person who would come to be known as Quinn Chase didn't have an easy childhood. The Christian Children's Home he was raised in could be downright brutal when the rotating staff of foster parents weren't around. Eventually, he learned to fight. Food was scarce, as the home was under funded, with the owner pocketing much of the funds meant to feed the children, and so Quinn soon took to sneaking to the kitchen after everyone was asleep, just to get a little more to eat.

Eventually, around age 10, he was caught, and locked in the attic bedroom with no food or water as punishment. They didn't expect Quinn to slip out the tiny window, out onto the rooftops, and begin a life of crime. But he did, and it was glorious. What started as smash and grabs soon became more sophisticated, becoming pick pocketing. His daring exploits came to a crashing halt at age 13, when he was unfortunate enough to pick the pocket of a circus acrobat, who chased him down and got PART of his story out.

That acrobat, having had a hard life herself, took Quinn under her wing, teaching the boy everything she knew, having seen his natural gifts and wanting to nurture them. When Quinn disappeared after a few weeks, said acrobat wasn't surprised when Quinn ended up back on the streets... but now Quinn was more skilled. In time, and with skill, Quinn set up a new life for himself, crashing in abandoned buildings for several years until he had managed to squirrel away enough ill gotten gains to hire a hacker, The Mouse, and use her skills to forge a new identity for himself.

With that done, and with a real base of operations, Quinn was able to upgrade his poorly made costume to something better, more able to withstand damage, thanks to Mouse's contacts in the underworld. Now, by day, he's Quinn Chase, a quiet, unassuming young man who keeps to himself and keeps slightly odd hours. But by night, he's The Cat, a costumed criminal prowling the rooftops of Gotham for ill-gotten gain, and occasionally using his abilities to help those more down on their luck than he once was.

SKILLS

ACROBATICS - Expert: Quinn has been practicing gymnastics since his early childhood as a way to escape from the mundane world of the children's home. Later trained by a highly talented acrobat, Quinn poured his heart and soul into it, and the years of hard work have paid off, resulting in an almost superhuman level of skill.

APPRAISAL - Competent: The Cat has an eye for fine jewelry, and priceless artifacts... and can usually set a price on them. He knows how to spot all but the best fakes, and what to charge to fence a product, the quality of a gemstone and the like.

CHARISMA - Competent: Quinn is attractive, and knows how to work that to his advantage for years. He knows just how to tilt his head and widen his eyes so as to look more vulnerable, and how to tug on even the hardest heart's strings. With practice, he could easily become a diplomat or a charismatic politician.

COMBAT - Competent: The Cat is a skilled fighter, knowledgeable in the use of hand to hand combat, combined with his acrobatics, to be a dangerous foe, tied in with the retractable claws in his costume, which are long enough to cause significant pain without being lethal. He is also quite skilled with a whip, and knows how to use it to entangle an opponent, or to make a quick get away.

ESCAPE ARTIST - Expert: There's a reason The Cat has never gone to jail, and part of it? He's just that good at wriggling free of cuffs, ropes, straight jackets and so on. If there's a way out of it and time to do it, he can get free, and nothing short of four steel walls welded shut will keep him from getting loose... and maybe even not that...

ROPE USE - Expert: The Cat may not have been a Boy Scout, but he sure does know his knots and how to tie things to secure them down without damaging, how to tie off a jump lead so it doesn't slip free while he's jumping and so on.

SECURITY - Competent: The Cat knows how to disable most standard security systems, and can even figure out how to work with custom top of the line systems with a little bit of effort and looking at their plans and layouts.

STEALTH - Competent: He's a cat thief for a reason. The Cat knows how to move quickly and quietly, how to place his feet on old creaky floor boards, and how to hold still and blend in with the shadows when someone's looking for him.

THIEF - Competent: The Cat is a skilled catburglar, able to pick locks and disarm all but the most complicated of security systems. He knows how to avoid leaving fingerprints and trace evidence, and has several lucrative capers under his belt already, including most of his tech.

POWERS

ADVANTAGES

COSTUME The Cat's costume is a temperature resistent flexible material that strongly resembles lycra, with similarly forgiving stretching and figure-conforming qualities. Over this, he wears a false-boned, lightly armored corset around his midsection, which protects his internal organs from injury. Gloves and boots, also lightly armored and padded at the knees and elbows to reduce damage from falls, protect his limbs. In both gloves, The Cat has installed gesture controlled claws that extend or retract with a quick flick of his wrist and a claw motion made with his hands. The claws are capable of cutting through glass and are Enhanced for both sharpness and durability. His mask is equipped with high tech, night vision goggles, that allow him to see in near pitch black without sacrificing detail or clarity.

TECHNOLOGY The Cat has access to a wide range of technological gadgets, mostly because he can steal them. His whip is a mundane bullwhip, about ten feet long, and can be used as an emergency lifeline if falling, or as a weapon. More important is the electro-magnetic grappling device he keeps clipped around his waist. Equipped with 75 feet of high strength, high tension line, the device automatically clings to any ferrous surface with an electromagnetic shock, and can be released with a touch from the control panel on the device's base. It can also deliver a nasty little shock if thrown at a person, functioning as a Basic level stun device. Finally, for some jobs, The Cat also carries various and sundry small items like caltrops, a mundane grappling hook, binoculars and the like, but will never carry weapons like guns, knives or swords.

WEALTH While much of it is ill-gotten gain, Quinn Chase is a wealthy young man, and owns a high rise apartment that works as his primary base of operations. It's a small luxury penthouse suite, though it's decorated simply, and the young man has made several adjustments to the home, including multiple escape routes.

WEAKNESSES

SECRET IDENTITY Quinn Chase is a decently well off young man who frequently keeps to himself and his housecats in his high rise apartment. Quinn, also, doesn't exist, as any truly deep searches into his history might discover. It's an alias, a name that started being used within the last year, and has a fictitious background associated with it. The Cat works very hard to keep this identity secret, as it's his freedom at stake otherwise.

SLIGHT BUILD There are some times that being slim and petite are a definite advantage, such as an opponent assuming you aren't dangerous. Then there are times where being physically unimposing are a problem, up to and including during a fight, where sheer physical weight can overwhelm a smaller opponent, no matter how quick they are.

WRONG SIDE OF THE LAW Simply put, The Cat, current identity unknown, is a wanted felon. He's stolen several million dollars worth of jewels, and assaulted both security guards and police officers to get free the one time he was captured, before they could get his mask off (though he did no real lasting damage, with the worst of the guards needing a few days sick leave to rest his shoulder). He has a lot to answer for, if they ever get their paws on him, and is willing to do a lot to remain free.
