Also known as Webhead, Spidey, That Menace... Hi, I'm Spider-Man. You might know me from such films as "Spider-Man". Only I'm much cuter now. I promise. Don't let the mask scare you off.

Personality

Peter's basic nature is that of a shy, well-meaning and somewhat geeky young man. He's deeply interested in science, pop culture and all things nerdery. He spends a lot of time on his computer when he's not out superheroing or doing homework. He desperately wants to fit in, to have friends and someone to care about, but he's not really sure how and he's had a lot of stumbles along the way.

As Spider-man, he's more confident. Behind the mask and using his powers, he's witty and sarcastic. He uses his sharp mind more as a weapon and less as a place to hide. Regardless of persona, he's an extremely compassionate, good-hearted and even oddly noble young man. He always try to do his best and honor the memory of his uncle.

Background

Peter Parker was orphaned at a young age and ended up being raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Bright, awkward and a bit shy, Peter excelled at school but didn't make a lot of friends. He preferred the company of books and his chemistry set and his computer. As a teenager, he and some other kids went on a trip to an experimental science lab. At the lab, Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider, an accidental exposure no one knew about. The result gave him spider-like superhuman abilities.

Peter used these abilities selfishly at first, trying to make money and get a little fame (although he wore a mask to try and keep his identity secret). After failing to stop a burglar, though, he learned a hard lesson when that same thief broke into his family's home and killed his Uncle Ben. Realizing his mistake, Peter vowed to fight crime and never let such a thing happen to someone else.

Since then, Peter has gained a reputation as a hero, although some call him a menace. He earns extra money as a photographer for a newspaper, having earned the place with pictures of Spider-Man. Now attending college, he tries to balance his busy life and superherodom - sometimes well and sometimes not.

SKILLS

FIGHTING - Competent: While no martial artist, Spidey's gotten some experience as a superhero and can handle himself in a tussle. He tends to throw punches and use his webs to his advantage as much as he can and tends to favor a 'stick and move' strategy to keep himself from getting hit.

PHOTOGRAPHY - Expert: Peter's an excellent photographer, with a natural eye for getting the right shot. He's been working as a pro since he was only a teenager and, while being Spider-Man certainly helped, his talent and gift for the art is easy for all to see.

SCIENCE - Expert: Peter Parker is a genius, most especially in the realms of science and chemistry. While still an undergraduate, his brilliant mind allows him to keep up with even his professors in most intellectual discussions of the subject. He has a natural aptitude and love of his studies and would definitely be considered a science nerd.

SMARTMOUTH - Expert: Peter's extremely sassy. While he tends to be more awkward as himself, behind the mask, he can be confident and cut loose. He's known for trash-talking his enemies, distracting them with words and generally having a sarcastic attitude.

POWERS

AGILITY - Enhanced: Spider-Man possesses astounding agility, capable of amazing feats of athleticism and flexibility. His enhanced reflexes let him react ten times faster than an ordinary human and his physical fitness makes him an astounding tumbler and acrobat.

SPIDER-SENSE - Enhanced: Spider-Man has an inherent danger sense he calls his Spider-sense. If he's in imminent danger, he'll feel an intense buzzing feeling all around his head, with a directional tug towards whatever is bringing him peril. It allows him to react even before he's attacked and gives him a great advantage against attempts at surprise or blindsiding.

STRENGTH - Enhanced: Peter Parker is far stronger than human level, able to bend and twist metal bars, smash through most non-armored structures, and break through a brick wall with a sustained, moderate effort.

WALL-CRAWLING - Enhanced: Spider-Man can cling to all but the slickest surfaces, enabling him to climb up brick walls, hang from ceilings or stick to the tops of moving vehicles even in high-speed pursuit. His incredible grip can be almost impossible to break!

ADVANTAGES

SPIDER-TRACERS Spider-tracers are small devices, designed to look like little spiders that Spidey can place on people or objects. The isotope in them interacts with his Spider-sense and enables him to track the tracers, so he can find out where people are and trail people from a distance.

WEBSHOOTERS While not an inherent power, Peter long ago perfected his webshooters, wrist-worn devices which create a sticky substance similar to a spider's web. Strong as steel cable, it lasts for about an hour before it dissolves. He can use it to swing around the city, cover and capture enemies, create traps or make trampolines and nets to catch people. He's found countless uses for it and always keeps plenty of cartridges on-hand - although he is prone to running out on occasion when he's absent-minded.

WEAKNESSES

AUNT MAY Spidey is extremely protective of his aunt, who is sometimes frail and not in the best of health. She's a threat that can be used against him and a worry that can be a distraction at the back of his mind.

COMPASSION Peter just isn't a hard or violent person by nature. He doesn't go for the jugular and he does his best not to seriously injure and definitely never to kill. Being careful that way may be the moral choice, but it can create difficulties in situations where his enemies aren't being nearly so kind.

FLUID Webshooters require webfluid and Spidey occasionally runs out. Usually at the worst times, in his experience.

RESPONSIBILITY Spider-man feels an incredible weight and sense of duty as a result of his uncle's death. He'll push himself beyond his limits and take on challenges that maybe he shouldn't. He's grown exhausted in the past and even let himself get hurt by biting off more than he can chew.
