On top of that, when a human has someone he's gotta protect, his power grows exponentially. I have what it takes to destroy you. All thanks to my human mother! Quote-close.png
— Himself
Inuyasha comes from Feudal Japan, a half-youkai born from a mortal human woman and a great dog youkai father. He had a mission to be the strongest youkai in all of Japan and even surpassing his father. Inuyasha may look tough, but he has a gentle and compassionate side that he never knew he had, which came from his human mother. As a particular side effect of his specific parentage, he also has a weak side: he becomes his human self during the night of the new moon. He also has a full youkai side, which can surface when he is on the brink of dying. One might hope he never changes into that.

Personality

While he was back at home, Kagome had taught him how to laugh, love, and how to make friends. He also learned how to be compassionate by Kikyo, as she was his first love. He has a heart of gold, but its just hard to see it under that tough exterior.

Background

Inuyasha came from the feudal era of Japan, more than 500 years ago. Inuyasha was born from a human mother and a youkai father. Inuyasha's father died trying to save Inuyasha and his mother from a fire that was started by humans that disliked youkai. Inuyasha and his mother were able to escape because of his sacrifice. Spending time with his mother, Inuyasha would listen and watch her make medicines from time to time, and Inuyasha would take note of it for future reference. Thus Inuyasha was living a double life, a life of human and youkai; however, not everyone liked the other, and so he was alone in the world, only having his mother until she passed away. Thus he had to live and survive on his own.

Inuyasha had to make a place for himself. And so he decided to learn things on his own, how to fight and combat because there wasn't anyone that was going to teach him how to do it. At times he resented humans because of how he was treated. He had finally made a pact to get stronger as soon as he heard about a jewel, the jewel of four souls, the tool to everything. He ended up at a village, falling in love with the priestess that was there, which actually helped him to become more compassionate towards humans, until he thought he was betrayed, but it was just another youkai that manipulated him and the priest on the chance of getting the jewel of four souls. So the priestess, Kikyo, wounded by a disguised Naraku but thinking it was Inuyasha who had done it, pinned Inuyasha to a tree with her sacred arrows, just as he obtained the jewel. She died, and he was left mystically pinned to the tree, kept in a state of suspended animation by the arrows. Kikyo was buried with the jewel, and it would one day resurface in the possession of her reincarnated self, a schoolgirl named Kagome.

Fast forward 500 years to modern Japan in 1996, and Kagome stumbled upon the magical Bone Eater's Well inside her shrine, and she ended up traveling back through time and spotted Inuyasha, still pinned to the tree from fifty years earlier. She pulled the arrow from him when they were attacked by a centipede youkai, thus awakening him and setting him free. Lo and behold he discovered that Kagome had the jewel, so Inuyasha went after her. The new priestess of the village, however, decided that he needed to kept under control, so she placed placed beads of subjugation around his neck and told Kagome to shout a word that came to mind. When she looked at Inuyasha's ears, she said "Sit, boy!" and thus triggered Inuyasha to fall face first onto the floor.

Eventually the jewel fell into the hands of a youkai crow and Kagome stupidly shot an arrow at it, which broke the jewel into thousands of pieces. From then, Inuyasha and Kagome went on a long journey to gather up the shards of the jewel, and along the way they met friends as well as foes. However, in the midst of this, Inuyasha was able to retrieve his father's sword, due to his brother. He also learned how to properly use the Tessaiga, and eventually the Tessaiga become truly his. Eventually Naraku was defeated, and almost everything turned normal again, except Inuyasha had disappeared and ended up in a strange place.

SIGNATURE ABILITY

Transformation

Being that he is a half youkai, there are times when Inuyasha's body ends up transforming. This means that once a month during the night of the new moon he turns into a full human for one night and one night alone. However, opposite of that, he is able to turn into his full youkai self when he is at his lowest/weakest. His eyes become red, marks appear upon his cheeks, teeth end up being sharper as well as his claws. When he is in this form he acts more like a rabid dog more then anything.

SKILLS

Combatant - Expert Level

Since being born a half-youkai at the time of great strife between humans and youkais, Inuyasha was very experienced in unarmed combat. However he relies more on brute force then any type of martial arts. His point was to center around attack in opponents quickly and beating them into submission. This leaves him at a disadvantage when faced with more worldly combatants.

Medicinal Knowledg - Novice Level

Inuyasha had somewhat of knowledge of medicine and minor illnesses, as he learned by his mother how to concoct an herbal medicine that could cure sickness in an a heart beat.

Medicinal Knowledge - Novice Level

Inuyasha had somewhat of a knowledge of medicine and minor illnesses, as he learned by his mother how to concoct an herbal medicine that could cure many sicknesses in a heartbeat.

Swordsman - Competent Level

After he managed to obtain the Tessaiga, his signature weapon, he uses it as his main form of combat, however since he had never used a sword before, he often relies solely on Tessaiga's youkaiic powers, and skilled swordsmen have normally pointed out how reckless he can be when fighting them and used that to their benefit. His brother had told him that the Tessaiga was a wooden club in the hands of Inuyasha. However, he continued to to improve in his swordsmanship to face great battles and to even defeat his brother in battle.

ABILITIES

Gear: Hair of the Fire Rat - Enhanced Level

Inuyasha's choice in armor. This was gifted to him pretty much when he was a baby. It is made with strong fibers of the fire rat and it's indestructable pretty much as it to regenerates and gets pieced back together in due time. It also protects from fire as well.

Power: Healing - Enhanced Level

Inuyasha is able to heal from even the most worst of injuries, even such as impalement, without leaving any visible scaring. His fangs also grow at a rapid rate as well. However, he is not able to regenerate the loss of limbs.

Power: Longevity - Enhanced Level

Inuyasha may like a young man, but really he is over 200 years old. This is from his youkai heritage as he ages slower then humans.

Gear: Tessaiga - Enhanced Level

This is Inuyasha's main weapon of choice. The Tessaiga may look like a rusty piece of junk when its strapped to Inuyasha's hip, but when Inuyasha pulls it out it becomes a huge blade which is made out of Inuyasha's own fang. With this weapon he is able to conduct several powerful moves as well as break barriers: Wind Scar, Backlash wave, Adamant Barrage, Meidou Zangetsuh. The sword was forged by Totosai and was first used by Inuyasha's father, and thus he used his father's fang, until the sword broke and Inuyasha used his own fang.

Gear: Tessaiga's Sheath - Enhanced Level

The sheath of Tessaiga can in fact help protect Inuyasha for a short period of time, as it causes a barrier of protection against attacks. With the sheath, he is also able to recall Tessaiga back to him.

WEAKNESSES

Demonic Blood

The sealing power in Tessaiga helps hold the youkai version of Inuyasha, however when he doesn't have it in possession, and when his life is in danger, Inuyasha gets taken over by his youkai self because of the youkai blood that flows within his veins. His youkai blood overwhelms him into a whirlwind of rage. Indeed he is more powerful in this form, however the sole purpose is destruction. As a youkai he is unable to feel pain, fear, compassion, or mercy; he only feels rage and bloodlust. He is unable to recognize who is a friend or foe in this form and will likely attempt to kill anyone in his vicinity. If left unchecked, he would continue in that way until his body gave out, or until he was killed by an opponent.

New Moon

Inuyasha is a half-youkai, and due to his particular bloodline he regularly loses his power for limited periods of time. For Inuyasha he loses his powers during the night of each new moon, becoming a human. He looses his dog ears, claws, fangs, and all of his half-youkai abilities. He even loses his enhanced senses while he's in this form. His sword even takes a toll, as during this time it doesn't transform into the giant blade, it remains a rusty old sword.

Sensory Overload

When certain senses start to really get to Inuyasha, like the smell of heavy ink, it temporary knocks him out. He also highly sensitive to spicy foods.

Spiritual Powers

He is able to be subdued by spiritual powers and spells. Sacred arrows, sacred sutras, and beads of subjugation can bring him down.
