Despite the this diner's dated appearance, it's kept very neat. All surfaces are brightly polished metal for easy cleanup, though everything still looks a bit tarnished by age. The booths and tables here are all made of durable metal, and the windows made of glass thick enough for a bomb shelter. Near the door a dispensing counter offers measured servings of a variety of condiments, plastic flatware, and napkins.
A counter runs the length of the room, an open kitchen beyond, where an aging waitress named Edna and her husband Joe, the eternally greasy cook, serve up the daily specials. It's actually good stuff, too, if you can handle cheap short-order food. Some days, they may run out of a few things, but then they usually just serve extra coffee and lots of apologies. The pie, baked fresh daily, is what brings most people back. That, and they serve breakfast all day and all night.
