The Flowers of the Moon, also referred to as just Flowers in day-to-day parlance, are an order of spiritual healers. Their central base of operations is the Moon of the Gardens, a moon that is, appropriately, completely covered in gardens above and below ground, all of which are tended to by the Flowers and their order.
The Flowers train and study for as long as they choose, to develop and cultivate the skills of healing. They are able to tap into a power that is often seen as supernatural, but to the Flowers, this is only nature itself; it is comparable to the Force. Flowers are typically able to access this power to some extent and, through it, most exhibit a number of powers.
These can include but are not limited to: holistic healing, which includes spiritual, emotional, and mental, as well as physical; sensation enhancement; minor illusions and sensory accentuation; visions and premonitions; empathy; soothing calm; telekinesis; and numerous other applications. There are a smaller number of Flowers who focus on more physical and martial abilities, due to the persistent threat of forces such as Empire Galactic, who have always been enemies of the Flowers.
Training
Most Flowers will learn at least a basic, perfunctory martial art, for fundamental protection. The few Flowers who dedicate themselves to a more physical, combative focus often travel, to ensure the safety of the many Flowers traveling in the universe. Taking a life is abhorrent to the Flowers, and they will usually try every other option before resorting to anything that would result in loss of life to any living thing.
Flowers tend to find more students simply through a sense of what they see as something close to destiny or fate, or the will of the universe itself. Most of the time, Flowers will identify someone like them and then invite them to learn more. These potential students, more often than not, turn out to be perfect for the order.
Individual Flowers will tend to have a personal sense of style, which is encouraged. If they have a personal vehicle or residence, it will always reflect the Flower who lives there and uses it regularly. There are plenty of Flowers who live a free-floating lifestyle and make their homes wherever it seems appropriate, relying on the kindness of others. It is viewed by most galactic citizens as an honor, to host a Flower.
Services and Resources
Many Flowers make themselves and their abilities available, whether for simple tasks such as pleasure for hire, or more complex ones, such as long-term therapeutic applications and wide range healing. They maintain very good relations with organizations such as GEAS, and much of the overwhelming embrace of the Flowers by the rest of the universe is due to their tremendous assistance in the aftermath of the Planet X Incident.
The Flowers have vast libraries that are made available to all, as well as having knowledgeable professionals who offer help. Most all of the Flowers are highly intelligent and knowledgeable, and many are trained in at least fundamental knowledge that will help them to function in a spacefaring universe.
The Flowers sometimes establish bases on some worlds, colonies, and platforms, generally when invited. These are known as Gardens and are kept as lush and as beautiful as their own world of origin. Most of these have a foundation of local flora and welcome the local fauna, as well as additions from the Moon of the Gardens.
Reputation
The Flowers were instrumental in the recovery of a wide range of living things, humans and humanoids included, after the disaster on what is now known as Planet X. Because the Flowers' healing applied to not just physical levels of damage, they were more effective than virtually any other relief at saving the lives, minds, and sanity of countless victims of the catastrophe.
Accordingly, in most situations and on most worlds, the Flowers are regarded with respect and deference. Most will not act, however, unless they have carefully considered what consequences those actions will have; authority is not something taken lightly by a Flower, and most will generally resist being put in a position of great authority for long.
To the Flowers, beauty is a way of living, and no matter the appearance of a Flower, they are always beautiful from within, and that shows through in their every action and word.
