We wish to be very clear, however, that creating the game with this theme and purpose is not intended as any kind of slight against women, non-binary folk, or heterosexuals. It has simply been our experience that many spaces exist in MU*dom where other forms of love and romance are much more extensively accepted and supported than male/male love has been. We fully applaud all varieties of such spaces, as we believe everyone should have places they can play where they feel able to fully be themselves. We also want to be very clear that the Wilde Adventures is not in any way anti-female, nor against any form of gender identity or expression. While player characters must be male, the world is also occupied by women, and players are welcome to run NPCS who are female as they like. We also welcome players of any gender. The game's Theme governs its purpose, focus, mission statement, and general tone. Important information about the game world can also be found in the Setting information.
Countless MU*s have come and gone over the years with themes and settings of all sorts. For a long time, many (even possibly most) of these weren't very hospitable to gay players and characters. Gay males were often especially treated as outsiders or, worse, openly ostracized. We've come quite a long way since then, and being gay is much more conceptually acceptable on most games. However, there are still relatively few spaces in role-playing MU*dom dedicated to telling stories about gay male characters. Even on most fairly accepting games, male FCs are usually expected to be played as straight unless explicitly indicated otherwise in the source material. In response to that, the founder of Wilde Adventures decided to create this game as a safe space where male/male role-play could be accepted and embraced.
The players characters on our game are all male, but we welcome all players equally.
Finally, we want to emphasize that just because this is a gay male space does not mean that it's all about sex or sexuality. We want to welcome people to be comfortable with their sexuality here and to express it in game freely (within our rules, of course--see our TinySex rules), but the game is not intended to be a "sex game." We prefer that players come here to play the same kinds of epic stories and exciting adventures that they might have on any game. The only difference is, here we do so through a lens that emphasizes male/male sexuality as the norm, where almost everywhere else it represents at best a distinct minority. We even have (and welcome) straight players who want to make male characters and play them in this environment. The point is about a space where a certain kind of play is normalized and welcomed, not to exclude all other sorts or to make anyone feel unwelcome.
With all that said, we offer several different worlds to role-play in. You can find more details about this in the Setting information. As for what you can play here, in terms of published content, you might want to read our rules about characters and canon.
